President Roberta Metsola is set to welcome German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the European Parliament in Brussels on Friday. Following their meeting, both leaders will address the press with brief statements.

The event is scheduled for May 9 around noon Central European Time (CET) and will take place on the ground floor of the SPAAK building at the European Parliament, located on Rue Wiertz.

Chancellor Merz was elected to his position on May 6 after legislative elections were conducted on February 23.

Media representatives with EU inter-institutional accreditation or holding an EP annual media pass can access the SPAAK building via the SPINELLI entrance on Rue Wiertz. To reach the press point, attendees must cross over a passerelle and descend stairs to enter through the protocol entrance of the SPAAK building.
