The European Union has announced a new humanitarian aid package of €80 million for Yemen in 2025. This funding aims to support essential services such as food, health, water provision, sanitation, hygiene, and education. The assistance will be delivered through EU humanitarian partners including UN agencies and NGOs that are working with communities affected by conflict, displacement, and climate challenges.

Protection services like mine clearance and mine risk education are also part of the humanitarian programmes funded by this aid. The announcement was made during the seventh Senior Officials Meeting on Yemen in Brussels, attended by Commissioner Hadja Lahbib.

Yemen is experiencing one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises. A decade-long conflict coupled with economic decline and climate-related events have left 19.5 million people in need of assistance. Among them are 2.4 million malnourished children.

The crisis has been exacerbated by recent cuts to humanitarian funding which forced aid agencies to reduce their life-saving operations significantly. Since the war began in 2015, the EU has contributed nearly €1.6 billion to address the situation in Yemen, including over €1 billion in humanitarian aid and close to half a billion in development assistance and peacebuilding efforts.

For further details or inquiries about this announcement, spokesperson Eva Hrncírová and press officer Daniel Puglisi can be contacted via phone or email.
