Parliament’s co-rapporteurs for the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) will brief journalists on the expectations for the next EU budget ahead of the Commission’s proposal. Co-rapporteurs Siegfried Mureşan and Carla Tavares are set to hold a press conference on Tuesday, 15 July at 09:30 CET. They will discuss Parliament’s priorities and expectations for the EU’s post-2027 long-term budget before the Commission reveals its proposal on Wednesday, 16 July.

Siegfried Mureşan (EPP, Romania) and Carla Tavares (S&D, Portugal), both co-rapporteurs for the MFF, will address journalists in the Anna Politkovskaya press conference room at the European Parliament in Brussels. Journalists can participate online via Interactio or follow through webstreaming, with recordings available afterward.

Additionally, on Wednesday, 16 July at 14:30 CET in room SPAAK 3C50, journalists are invited to attend a Budgets Committee meeting where Commissioner Piotr Serafin will present the Commission’s proposals to MEPs. The co-rapporteurs will hold a press point immediately after outside the meeting room. Both events can be followed online via webstreaming.

Parliament adopted its priorities for the post-2027 EU long-term budget during May’s plenary session. MEPs advocate for a more ambitious budget than the current ceiling of 1% of EU-27’s gross national income to address future security concerns and enhance Europe’s global competitiveness while supporting regions and rural communities. The next long-term budget requires approval by a majority of Parliament members.

Journalists using Interactio should note that it is supported only on iPads with Safari or Mac/Windows with Google Chrome. For optimal sound quality during participation, headphones and microphones are recommended. Interpretation services are available only for video questions.

For those new to Interactio, connecting 30 minutes before starting is advised for testing purposes. IT assistance is available if needed. Opening the chat window upon connection allows access to service messages.
