The European Parliament is set to vote on a new package aimed at simplifying sustainability reporting and due diligence requirements for companies. The initiative seeks to reduce the number of companies subject to these rules and to make compliance less burdensome, with the stated goal of enhancing competitiveness and cutting red tape.

Following the plenary vote scheduled for November 13, Jörgen Warborn, the rapporteur from the Legal Affairs Committee (JURI), will brief journalists on Parliament’s position regarding these changes. Warborn will also address questions about the next procedural steps.

The press conference will take place at 13:30 CET in Brussels at the Anna Politkovskaya Room (SPAAK 0A50) in the European Parliament. Accredited journalists can attend in person or join remotely via Interactio, a platform that supports participation with interpretation into and from English, French, German, Italian, and Swedish.

The press conference will be streamed live and made available for later viewing on Parliament’s Multimedia Centre website. Journalists participating remotely are advised to use iPad with Safari or Mac/Windows with Google Chrome for optimal access to Interactio. They should enter their name and media affiliation upon connecting and use headphones and a microphone for better sound quality. Interpretation is only available for interventions made with video.

Journalists unfamiliar with Interactio are encouraged to connect 30 minutes early to perform a connection test; IT assistance is available if needed. For more details about remote participation, guidelines and recommendations are provided by the European Parliament.

“Rapporteur Jörgen Warborn will brief journalists on 13 November at 13.30 on Parliament’s position on the simplification package for sustainability reporting and due diligence requirements.”

“Legal Affairs Committee (JURI) rapporteur Jörgen Warborn (EPP, SE) will brief journalists following the plenary vote on 13 November 2025, and will answer questions about the next steps in the procedure.”
