European Parliament schedules press briefing ahead of December plenary session

Spokespersons for the European Parliament and its political groups will hold a press briefing on Friday, December 12 at 11:00 in the Anna Politkovskaya press room in Brussels. The session will preview key topics to be addressed during the plenary meeting scheduled for December 15-18.

The agenda includes awarding the 2025 Sakharov Prize to Andrzej Poczobut from Belarus and Mzia Amaglobeli from Georgia. Other items are a debate on the upcoming EU summit in December, a final vote on ending Russian natural gas imports, decisions regarding sustainability reporting and due diligence requirements, and a final vote on changes to deforestation regulations. The plenary will also consider safeguard mechanisms for agricultural imports related to the Mercosur trade deal, discuss affordable housing across the EU, and debate new measures aimed at boosting competitiveness in the EU automotive sector.

Interpretation of the press briefing will be available in English and French. Journalists can attend in person or follow live via Parliament’s webstreaming services and EbS.
