Spokespersons from the European Parliament and political groups will hold a press briefing on Friday, March 6 at 11:00 in the Anna Politkovskaya press room in Brussels. The event will cover the agenda for the upcoming plenary session scheduled for March 9-12.
Key issues to be discussed at next week’s plenary include a debate on the US-Israel military operation against Iran and a discussion ahead of the EU summit set for March 19-20. Other topics are Europe’s housing crisis, with debates and votes on recommendations from Parliament’s special committee, as well as proposals concerning an EU single market for defence.
The session will also address energy policy, focusing on clean, independent, and secure energy sources. Members of Parliament will discuss updates to the Package Travel Directive aimed at protecting travellers and consider ways to strengthen financial services within the single market.
A vote is expected on prolonging an exemption that allows voluntary detection of child sexual abuse material online despite privacy legislation. MEPs will also vote on measures to protect copyrighted work in relation to artificial intelligence.
International Women’s Day will be marked by MEPs during this session. There will also be a formal sitting with Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and an announcement regarding the first recipients of the European Order of Merit.
Interpretation during Friday’s press briefing will be available in English and French. The briefing can be followed live in person or via webstreaming through Parliament’s platforms and EbS.
