On Thursday, the European Parliament endorsed Ivana Maletić for a second term as Croatia’s representative on the European Court of Auditors. Maletić has been serving in this role since 2019. Her appointment was previously approved by the Committee on Budgetary Control on May 14, 2025.
Before joining the European Court of Auditors, Maletić served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2013 to 2019 and had a career in Croatia’s Ministry of Finance. She holds a master’s degree in accounting, auditing, and finance from the University of Zagreb and is pursuing a PhD at the University of Rijeka.
Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) supported Maletić’s nomination through a secret ballot. The results were 460 votes in favor, 72 against, and 59 abstentions.
The next step involves EU member states making the final decision within the Council.
According to the EU Treaty, each member state nominates one candidate to serve on the European Court of Auditors. After consulting with the European Parliament, the Council of the EU adopts a list of members for a six-year term.
